Retro- Beauty

So my bf gave me permission to draw up our future tattoos.

I feel so honored that someone would want my art on their body permanently and that he trusts me that much.

I <3 him

Now to go sketch stuff

And in that moment everyone realized that Forrest knew. He knew he was “special” and not like everyone else despite going to regular school and college. He knew that he wasn’t like everyone else mentally and his biggest fear was that his son would have to face life like that too. The bullies, the name calling, the confusion, everything. This broke my heart because all he wanted was a better life for his son in every way.

someone poured water on my face I’m not crying

And that’s the most frustrating thing about depression. It isn’t always something you can fight back against with hope. It isn’t even something — it’s nothing. And you can’t combat nothing. You can’t fill it up. You can’t cover it. It’s just there, pulling the meaning out of everything. That being the case, all the hopeful, proactive solutions start to sound completely insane in contrast to the scope of the problem.

It would be like having a bunch of dead fish, but no one around you will acknowledge that the fish are dead. Instead, they offer to help you look for the fish or try to help you figure out why they disappeared.

You know when you read something that’s so accurate that you don’t know how to words?
Yeah.

So glad this was brought back.

When Keiko died, pro-caps were quick to say that the whole project was a failure. They said that releasing captive killer whales was a bad idea. But don’t you think it was better that Keiko died in the wide open ocean as a free whale instead of a prisoner in a concrete box? He got to experience the wild again. He knew what freedom felt like. He even got to swim with pods of wild whales! He swam from Iceland to Norway by himself. He got to live the life of a true killer whale again. In my book, that is a compete success.

I always thought releasing captive animals into the wild wasn’t good due to the fact that they are used to being fed (not hunting) but perhaps that is different with Orcas? Either way if a Captive Orca can survive in the wild just fine then I say FREE them.

People always say they’ll never be able to reestablish themselves in a wild setting. I honestly believe, depending on the social dynamics of the animals, most marine mammals can be released. I think the only problem with Keiko’s release was that we didn’t know his original pod, and therefore, the Orcas he socialized with probably weren’t related to him.
With Lolita from the Miami Seaquarium, it’s a different story. We know her family and her probable mother. Same goes for Morgan at Loro Parque.
With Kshamenk, he’s a “transient” Orca, more than capable of taking care of himself.
If anything, Tilikum, Ulises, Kasatka, and all other wild caught Orcas probably could experience the same thing Keiko did [Or at least, retirement to a natural ocean pen].
And regardless of the situation, Keiko died a free Orca. His death was entirely unrelated to his interaction with people/lack of interaction with other Orcas. In my opinion, Keiko’s release was indeed a success.

How did he die though?? :(

Keiko died of pneumonia, not of starvation like many believe

Okay well at least it wasn’t due to starvation or stress. Totally sucks either way though.
